How to Use Japanese Keyboard
In order to type in Japanese on your keyboard, you need to set it up by following these steps:
Step 1: Enable Japanese Input
- Click on the language icon located on the taskbar, typically represented by “EN” or “ENG”.
- Select the “JP” or “JPN” option to switch to the Japanese language.
Step 2: Choose the Keyboard Layout
- After enabling Japanese input, right-click on the language icon in the taskbar.
- Select “Settings” or “Options” from the pop-up menu.
- In the settings/options window, choose a specific keyboard layout (e.g., “Microsoft IME” or “Google Japanese Input”).
Step 3: Start Typing in Japanese
- Open a text editor or any application where you want to type in Japanese.
- Click on the language icon in the taskbar and select “JP” or “JPN” if needed.
- Press the “Alt” key on your keyboard to bring up a language bar or toggle between English and Japanese input modes.
- With Japanese input enabled, start typing phonetically in Roman characters.
- As you type, the input system will suggest various Hiragana or Katakana options.
- Use the arrow keys or number keys to choose the desired character or word from the suggestion list.
- Press the spacebar or enter key to convert the Roman characters into Japanese characters.
- To switch back to English input, press the “Alt” key again.
Remember to practice and familiarize yourself with the Japanese keyboard layout as it may differ slightly from the standard QWERTY layout. With regular usage, you will gradually become faster and more efficient in typing in Japanese.
