How to Use Ruler on iPhone

Have you ever found yourself in need of measuring something while you had no ruler around? Don’t worry! Your iPhone can come in handy as a makeshift ruler. Here’s how you can use the ruler feature on your iPhone:

  1. Open the Measure App: Locate and open the Measure app on your iPhone. It comes pre-installed on iPhones running iOS 12 or later.

  2. Align the Phone: To accurately measure an object, align your iPhone parallel to the object. Make sure the object fits within the screen.

  3. Begin Measurement: Tap the “+” button at the bottom of the screen to start measuring. You will see a dotted line appear on your screen.

  4. Align the Ruler: Align the dotted line with one end of the object you want to measure. For example, if you want to measure the length of a book, align the dotted line with the book’s spine or cover edge.

  5. End Measurement: Once the dotted line is aligned correctly, tap the “+” button again to set it. Then, align the dotted line with the other end of the object and tap the “+” button once more. The app will display the measurement on the screen.

  6. Rotate and Move: You can rotate or move your iPhone while measuring an object. The Measure app will adjust accordingly and continue to measure accurately.

  7. Measure Multiple segments: If you need to measure multiple segments of an object, repeat steps 3 to 6 for each segment.

  8. Switch Measurement Units: By default, the Measure app uses centimeters, but you can switch to inches or any other unit of your preference. Tap the number at the top of the screen, and a menu will pop up allowing you to choose your desired unit.

Note: The ruler feature on the iPhone is best suited for quick measurements and approximate values. For precise measurements, it’s still recommended to use a physical ruler or measuring tool.

Now you can measure objects conveniently using your iPhone’s Measure app. No need to carry a physical ruler with you all the time!
